Neurological update - August

Following my MRI scan a few months back I also had an EEG around the same time, during which a load of lights are flickered at you to try and trigger epilepsy, which is about as fun as it sounds. Nothing major happened to me physically, but maybe something in my brain waves went, we’ll see.

Besides that I have a hospital appointment for November the 19th I think with a neurologist and that’s all I know.

The “attacks” have managed to stave off mostly, with minor ones here and there, though I did manage to keep headache and nausea for about a week and a half when I’d had a particularly bad one.

I just wish they’d give me a name for what this thing is…then some medication for it.

Nine year old poetry

ernesto-thinking Not, as you may suspect poetry written in the year 2000, but poetry written when I was nine years old. You see, as a school we did a book called “Orchard Days” which I suspect is long out of print. I will however show you mine, from when I was in Year 5 I think. You have some Year 7 poetry and sketches to come yet at some point too. You could choose a few categories, and I chose “Our School”. It is entitled “At Our School”.

If you come to our school,
You will have fun,
Some people will be a fool,
And their work won’t be done

When you are at our school,
Obey this rule,
Stay cool!
And at home be a fool!

Looking back on it, it’s not bad for still being in single digits. However, I’d heavily criticize myself for starting sentences with the word “and”. I recall that being an aggravation to most of my early English teachers, and I know I’ve since tried to outgrow the habit.

Solipsist Syndrome

pennyqg7

So late night, a few days ago I sent Will another pitch, (first one linked to here), which was semi-based on me thinking about the above show and then my own sketches of weird shit like Monktupuses and the aptly named “Angry Love Monster”.

Late night pitch idea. Artist suffer delusions making them believe the things they've drawn are real...but maybe they are.

He cranked out a nice introduction with some cool things, and a world I’d love to see revisited. It’s up here.

Speaking of @fragmad he’s going to comprise these flash fiction/#600words pitches in to a print on demand book with any luck, which I shall be spending some monies on. Read through the rest of his stuff and see what you think.

The secret of the box man

2x23_MenOfFaith
Hello yourself, box man.

An employee left work recently and had the idea to make a face on a box and leave early on his last day. He had already labelled up the walkie talkies as Mr. T, Saddam and Gilbert which no-one has noticed, but that’s only a small thing. However, the box he made a face on, he couldn’t decide where to put it so that it was noticeable to those who knew it was there, but not to people he didn’t want to see it.

Me: “How about on top of the lock-up?” (The lock-up is a big locked cage where we keep alcohol)

So, he got the ladders and put it up there, which looked slightly humorous, but still not good enough.

Me: “I know, take a pole from these things, then jam it in that box of wine carriers, and it’ll hold up there.”

And it did…

It’s –us Gloop!

charlie-and-the-chocolate-factory-9 So, that was my attempt at being witty, and if you still don’t get it, what’s wrong with you?

July has come to a close and all the sunny sunny-ish not too bad rain and thunderstorms type weather has been hammering us throughout in the UK. As I usually do, I look ahead to the month and let you know what I have planned for it.

Moving all about

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen that I had to kick out an non-contributing (didn’t pay rent or anything) flatmate who also happened to be a family member. At first I was concerned, but after finding out she owed over £1,500 within the last year for late rent payment, I wasn’t bothered. She went back to live with her parents, and it’s now mostly resolved.

However, this now means that my best mate, @benjirino will be moving in, which makes a whole ton of sense really as we spend a vast amount of time together playing games and watching DVDs and obsessing over Lost.

Duck soup! Duck what?

I’ve also been playing Final Fantasy X-2 a lot, trying to get 100% on the first run through. I’ve accomplished it before, but have had to use New Game Plus to do so. I’m just trying to beat Shinra at Sphere Break at the moment.

It’s not Final Fantasy!

RaminasLet me level with you. Final Fantasy XII. It’s not a Final Fantasy game, none of the right elements are there and the story bores me to death.

I’ve tried multiple times to play, but as soon as Ben is moved in we’re going to try a simultaneous play through of Final Fantasy XII when we both have some time off to at least try and finish it. It will not be easy.

Dungeons and Discourse

800pxdungeons_and_dragons_gameDungeons & Dragons will be occurring round my place some time this month. Got a group of four/five people interested. It will be a basic character creating session, with the first few bits of an adventure I have planned out. It’ll be fun.

That’s all I really have planned for this month, a nice easy month.
